At LoveVivid we are obviously very passionate about gift wrapping! There is nothing more exciting than receiving a gift that has been beautifully wrapped, it says a lot about the relationship between the gifter and the recipient.
Offering a free in-store gift wrapping service is a fantastic way to increase sales of gift wrap and wrapping accessories, whilst providing a value added service that creates both goodwill and customer loyalty. Giving you, the independent retailer, a clear point of difference vs larger chain stores and big box retailers.
Offering a gift wrapping service is simple
There are 3 easy steps you can take to setting up your in-store wrapping service...
1. Learn to Wrap
Whether you are an accomplished gift wrapper or struggle with the basics, the key to a successful in-store wrapping service is being able to wrap quickly and beautifully. Your aim is to create a sense of wow and not impact the operation of the store.
We are delighted to be working with US based, Shiho Masuda, who is a professional gift wrapper. Shiho creates beautiful but simple gift wrapping solutions that your store team, and most importantly your customers, will love!
All of the wonderful photos on this page have been created by Shiho, using our gorgeous handmade recycled papers!
Shiho has created an online gift wrapping course that will teach you and your team wonderfully easy wrapping techniques that you can continue to use for years to come.
In this course you will learn everything from wrapping different sized boxes, to uniquely shaped gifts! You will learn a number of ways to tie ribbons and even how to make the inside of your box presentable with pleated tissue paper around the gift. All the videos are under 10 minutes and are easy to follow! Watch as many times as you need, and ask any questions you may have for Shiho. See below a link to the course for more information!

2. Offer the wrapping service for free!
Yes, we really mean for free!
Charge for all the gift wrap, tissue, ribbon, tags & gift toppers that you use when wrapping, but offer the service for free. Or you can set up a charity donation box and encourage customers to donate to your chosen charity as a thank-you for the free service. It's a great way to raise funds for worthy causes while providing a great service and driving your gift packaging sales.
Top Tip: Offer each customer a fully coordinated wrap by picking out and suggesting all the key ingredients that you intend to use. This might be a color theme, or an occasion theme, don't be afraid to add all the trimmings! Give the customer all the left over paper, tags and trims when you have finished.
3. Advertise it in-store and tell everyone!
Tell every customer that you have a gift wrapping service! The word will quickly spread and reluctant wrappers will flock to your door!
Offer to wrap gifts that you sell, as well as any other gifts that customers have bought elsewhere. This will encourage foot traffic into your store in order to use your gift wrapping service and generate both gift wrapping and other additional sales while they are there!
Top Tip: Don't feel under pressure to wrap at every moment of the day, agree a time with the customer to collect their wrapped gifts.
Top Tip 2: Tell other local stores about your gift wrapping service, and encourage them to send their customers to you. This is a great way to create community spirit and all working together to retain local custom!
While working with clients for designing custom gift wrapping in New York, Shiho learned that the act of gift wrapping can really enhance the act of caring and being compassionate about others.
Over the past decade, she's developed a strong passion in teaching others the art form and has conducted numerous workshops. Her belief is that gift giving helps us mark key moments in our lives and everyone should learn the skills to bring a bit of magic to their family and friends. With this newly found sense for the art of gift wrapping, Shiho is on a mission to share and teach professional wrapping skills both through online tutorials and live, in person workshops.
“Refining the gift giving tradition, one fold at a time.”
With this mission in mind, Shiho has created a large collection of video tutorials and courses designed for everyone who wishes to master the skills of elegant gift wrapping and create surprising and impressive moments with every gift giving occasion.
She has also made available a series of special lessons and custom design services for retailers and brands who are taking their customer experience to the next level. Shiho has previously shared her expertise with Uniqlo, Daniel Wellington, fresh, Ferrero Rocher and others, designing branded gift wrapping styles, providing demonstrations and workshops to their customers and VIP clients, and participating in their staff training workshops.
